OK, I know, I am not the brightest guy in the world, but at least I recognize that fact, and am not too proud to ask for help.  So, with that, here goes.  I used Skype maybe twice in my life.  Just today a friend contacted me by Skype, and we began to have a conversation, but then she opened it up to a bunch of her rowdy friends, she split, and the conversation took a turn for the worse.  Several times I tried to X my way out of it, and each time I did, the Skype window closed, but then opened again a second or two later when the next post was posted.  Is this like the Mafia -- in for life?  Or is there some way for me to really get out of it for good?  Obviously my friend knows how to get out, but since she is out, I can't really ask her.  So I am asking all of you.  Thank you!

Dear Vance, don't be hesitate to ask your friend which invited you, I am sure it is not as bad as you think or suspect. Good, clear, open conversasion is the kay for success and solving any kind of problem. No need to hide things you are wondering about, don't be hasitate to ask question things you are wondering about.

Strange! I use Skype and I have never seen anything like that. Did you find a fix?

skype.  Im new new new too.  My understanding of Skype would be that it is similar to a phone.  The computer would make a ringing sound.  Person would answer.  Then chat is on.  Must u have a camrea or can one use without?  Also u can have open chats.  Not sure what open chat would be.  Anyone or just people on your list?  Never enough time in the day. Does anyone know if there is a Skype for dummies book...........................thanks billie the ladie:)

Hi billie! :) It's skype to skype call, yes it makes ring sound which you can adjust what kind of ring signal you want to hear. You can talk without webcam and you can still watch the other caller's webcam (if he/she has and allows you to watch). You can also answer the call with webcam so the caller can see you while talking. You can set your skyp either private or anyone can contact you. I set mine as private so only people in my friend list can call/contact me. It's very unconvinient and real annoying when you allow anyone can contact you, you'll get unexpected calls or messages, also you'll get lots of spams, lots of sex advertaisment pop up on your chatting box which attached their links, when you see them just don't even try to answer or open it instead click on raport abuse/spam. Best is to set your skype as PRIVATE if you don't want to be bothered by those unknown people and spamer. It works both for call and chat perfectly. Excellent sound, sometimes I talk with my chess friends from all over the world while playing chess here in chess.com ;)

Good luck! :)

That was actually the last time I even used Skype.  Maybe I should go back to it, after all this time?  Well, thank you both!
