Given this is an international group I thought I might try and ask about visiting Spain as I am about to set up a trip for my family this summer and would like to pick the brains of those who are willing, would be great to hook up with another chess.com for some Salvador Ruy Lopez.

Thanks to anyone for tips, i have 3 weeks a wife and 2 adventuresome kids.

There is a fantastic forum here: http://www.notesfromspain.com/forums/index.php

With a lot of info and podcasts about Spain, the spanish language, and so forth.  at least one other chess.com member is over there also!  It's extremely friendly.

Need to work on some of your travel spanish at all?  There is a super, super fun video series on the BBC website (You don't often see "fun" and "BBC" together in a sentence), with lots of drama, that actually takes you around to different parts of Spain.  It's actually given me some ideas about where I want to go when I visit spain some day.  http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/spanish/mividaloca/

If you just do the first episode, you'll get addicted.  Try it, you'll see... :)

    Enjoy!

I had an exciting vacation to Spain last summer. It is a very beautiful country. My wife and I explored Madrid, Cordoba, and Barcelona. The countryside is simply breath-taking. We really enjoyed the history of the country and all it had to offer. Before we went, I took a gander at http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Europe/Spain/General_Tips-Spain-BR-1.html . It was really helpful.

Enjoy yourself and horde all the Flan you can get your hands on.
