Stalling

    In my chess club, people sometimes stall. When their in lost positions, or any position, because they know eventually, they will lose. Since their is a policy that states if you don't finish when the club is over, you must be winning by 4 points or more to win, otherwise a draw. there aren't any clocks there.

    queen= 10

    rook=5

    pawn=1

    knight=3

    bishop=3

    king=infinite

    how do i stop people from stalling, we only have about 45 min.

    Let's get back to the piece evaluations. The queen is 9 pointsLaughing

    A bishop can bench press a knight.

    ps. Without clocks, the only way that's under your control is to resign, and refuse to play them (bring a book to read instead).

    On a serious note, you can always have a referee to enforce a 30 second per move time limit.

    Or play with a sand glass that holds a few minutes.

    Or buy a cheap chess timer even (shazaam!)

    Or not play at all, in protest of the word, "eternal"....

     yes the queen is 9 points, but i go to the same chess club as him and the coach says for simplicity it is 10. also the stalling is annoying. we need something we can suggest to our coach

     when we resign, it gets recorded as a loss. also, we have a chess ladder and we want to get to the top. usually when we lose, we move down. allso, the wins and losses are very imporatant right now because teams are being picked. resigning to someone who you can easily beat is not an option.

    If the King is infinite (infinity), then everyone's material point count will always be infinity, since infinity + whatever still equals infinity.  All unfinished (non-checkmate) games in this club should therefore be draws.
