There is no doubt that an original ring of stones were at Stonehenge, however the site may well of been redeveloped using larger stones in the mid 19C.

The Victorian era enjoyed follies and by this time in history had the means to cut and transport the new huge stones required for the project.

Yes the site has had a confirmed date,as said there has always been a ring of stones,BUT, ask yourself how could.......

1.Stones be cut by tools available at the time.

2.Transportation of such stones/transportation available at the time.

3.Erection and arrangement of the stones/technology available at the time.

Now ask yourself,I would appreciate the challenge via comments to convert me in my way of thinking regarding this matter,my kindest regards and respects to you all,Debbie.

Also ask yourself: if someone thinks Stonehenge is only about a hundred years old, what are the chances of them being smart at chess? Wink

If you think moving the stones at Stonehenge was challenging, you should try moving the stove we're just putting into our kitchen. At least the Stonehenge stones didn't need to be moved several times to get the boiler pipes and flue lined up.

Don't underestimate ancient people... they had just as much ingenuity as we do.

In fact, looking at our reaction to the oil spill, I'd say they had more.
