I have a question for all you that know how to play texas holdem

I was playing today and there were 3 of us left.

the flop, straight, and river was .......A, K, J,  9, 10

In my hand I had a....Q, 3

Other guy had a.......Q, 8

Other Guy had a......Q, J

So we all went all in because by using the flop we all had a straight, so we was suppose to split the $ right? But the guy with the Q, J said he won becasue he had a "J" but we kept telling him he was wrong because no matter how you shifted the card, all 5 cards made a straight no matter which way...who was right? Should he have gotten all the money since he had a "J" or should we all have split because we all had a straight "A" high?????

Well it depends on the suit of all the cards, you didnt post any of the suits so i assume nobody had a flush but that might have been why he wouldve won but otherwise I have been playing poker for years and I'm positive that it was a 3-way split between you guys if nobody had a flush because you all tied for the best 5-card hand made from your individual hands and the board. Your friend was most likely just bummed cuz he's an idiot lol. : ) Hope you guys didn't argue too much lol.

Absolutely, the rules are that you can only use 5 cards to make the best hand. If there was no flush involved, with the cards you have showing, it should be a three way split. The second Jack your opponent is a 6th card, and does not count.

Man again last last though, there was a straight on the flop and everyone started high betting because they thought we was gonna have to split the pot, but i had a flush of clubs, and the chips was mine! it was a sweet action play!
