Thanks for the recent posts.
Today we have lost a major influence from the early days of Rock. A fellow who seemed to be forever young has passed away --- Dick Clark. In his heyday he had anyone who was anyone on his show.
Well for the second day in a row we have lost someone in the Rock & Roll field. Levon Helm of " The Band " has passed away after having health problems for some years.
I first heard Levon Helm on the album The Legend of Jesse James; he sang the voice of Jesse James. It's still my favorite album.
Thanks for the post Javan64. " The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down " is probably my favourite song by The Band, but they had a lot of other good tunes out as well.
What a hard choice, in the end Beatles rule! Then a little Sympathy for the Devil and for dessert, Pinball Wizard all with a nice bottle of Chianti
Thanks for the recent posts. With the recent passing of Dick Clark another pioneer of TV came to mind as to the shows that presented music for TV viewers. I had mentioned Ed Sullivan before and I think I should mention him again as he did other things besides bring the Beatles to the USA. For example when Ed had Bo Diddly on his show that was probably Bo's first appearance on national television. Ed had a lot of music on his show and along the way intoduced quite a number of new artists to the TV audience.
Oh Thanks Andy Clifton, because Ed and that little mouse was a very cute segment of his show. Wow that goes way back !
Thanks for the info AndyClifton. I've got a set of 2 VHS tapes here that present some of the highlights of Ed's shows however I think that it would take at least a dozen or more tapes for that great program. He had on so many different types of acts, I loved all of the Comedians for example. Also I enjoyed the " plate spinners " as well, it is not easy to keep those darn things spinning lol.
Oh I believe it. He had every type of act that one could imagine on his show. Since he was based in New York he could also bring on people from Broadway shows that were still in their theater runs as well.

Jim Morrison went ahead and sang it the way it was written inspite of Ed.
