Thanks for the post AndyClifton. " Itchycoo Park " is a real beautiful song, but something funny came to mind as I was listening to it. Often I will hear a nice song that I can remember the melody of but I've forgotten who had the song out lol.
AndyClifton
Lewis Black does a good bit on this...his friends and him nowadays discussing "that guy in the movies"...nobody can remember the actor's name anymore (but they all know who each other is talking about).
Thanks for the info AndyClifton. Just heard another cute song on the " 50's on 5 " channel. Bill Hailey And The Comets did a song entitled " When The Comets Start To Rock And Roll " done to the melody of " When The Saints Go Marching In ". Quite nice songs in both versions but then I've been a fan of New Orleans Jazz for many years.
Then there's his "13 Women"...about the up side of a nuclear holocaust.

Thanks for the info Electricpawn. I luv Lou Reed doing " Walk On The Wild Side ". How long was the Velvet Underground together before he went on his own ?
AndyClifton I didn't know that there was a upside to a nuclear holocaust lol.

and me, the only man in town...

Today we have lost a major influence from the early days of Rock. A fellow who seemed to be forever young has passed away --- Dick Clark. In his heyday he had anyone who was anyone on his show.
Well for the second day in a row we have lost someone in the Rock & Roll field. Levon Helm of " The Band " has passed away after having health problems for some years.

I first heard Levon Helm on the album The Legend of Jesse James; he sang the voice of Jesse James. It's still my favorite album.
Thanks for the post Javan64. " The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down " is probably my favourite song by The Band, but they had a lot of other good tunes out as well.

What a hard choice, in the end Beatles rule! Then a little Sympathy for the Devil and for dessert, Pinball Wizard all with a nice bottle of Chianti

mud & peace & tunes & mud
how'd they clean up all that crud?
Thanks for the recent posts. With the recent passing of Dick Clark another pioneer of TV came to mind as to the shows that presented music for TV viewers. I had mentioned Ed Sullivan before and I think I should mention him again as he did other things besides bring the Beatles to the USA. For example when Ed had Bo Diddly on his show that was probably Bo's first appearance on national television. Ed had a lot of music on his show and along the way intoduced quite a number of new artists to the TV audience.
