"The Game of Life" by J.Charles Cripps
I sit around and contemplate the squares that lie ahead.
Some of them are straight enough; some will cross instead.
And some go off at angles that might take me near or far.
All are fraught with challenges beyond just being par.
The game of life is much like chess from beginning to the end.
But if I play them well enough I'll celebrate a win.
By winning, losing, growing strong, addicted to the game,
I live to fight another day and yes, to win again!
Sung to the tune: "Check! Mate"

Way better then the New Year's Eve Poem. Fantastic work!
Thank you! They are, of course, intended to be of entirely different types.
