Are we making progress or setting the scientific world back a few steps?

To seriously answer your first question.  If the universe is finite, then there are several logical possibilities. At least as far as I understand it.

1) There is nothing outside our universe.  Not even space.

2) There is space which our universe has not reached yet called hyperspace.  This space would have nothing in it not even traces of gas.  I've also heard of this referred to as "The Bulk."  The bulk is the "medium" which contains universes.

or

3) In the "Muli-Verse" theories there would be bulk and other universes.  These other universes may look similar to ours or completely insanely different.

I'm watching "The Universe" on The History Channel and there exists a claim that "The trinagulation of the edges of the known universe show the universe to be flat."  This is not an exact quote.  I don't understand how this is possible and I don't know what it means if it is.  Can anyone give a more detailed explanation or a link to a detailed explanation?

Thanks

Anthony

In a wonderful lecture by Hubert Reeves I've got the Idea!

It's flat, meaning like a sheet of paper...!

It exploded in the Big Bang flat...

There is no up or down in the Universe we might know!

Once The Big Bang occurred all we endless later 4.5B happened... now!!!

Divinities to explain why we should behave in social creations we've created???

Obviously!!!

And if finally We Humans with all our living friendly animals and others... were really alone in The Whole Universe???

It might be true and we could be really UNIQUES!!!

If stands by the peculiar Oxygen composition of our Atmosphere, more it exploses and less nothing burns... like breathing!

90% of our energy comes from Oxygen !!!

10% from other things like food, booze, you name it!

So... I'll always play d4! :o)
