So, are there any video gamers in here? I know there are a few scattered around the place, but I want to know whether or not there's any more of us, and what genres, etc. you/they're interested in.

Personally, I'm a fan of most genres; I enjoy RTS', FPS', simulations (flight, naval, etc.), racing games, all sorts. I'm currently playing Red Dead Redemption, (PS3) as well as going back and playing through GTA4 again (PS3 also)

So, what about you lot, then? Don't be afraid to speak up even if you're but a humble casual gamer! Laughing

Geez, I forgot RPGs for a moment there! Yeah, there's definately a good number of great-quality RPGs out there - have you by any chance played Dungeon Siege? It was made back around 200-2001, and it was my first "true RPG", I believe. Needless to say, it was excellent in every regard; even had graphics quality above the usual standard of its time

Anything by SSI or Firaxis, I played MTW back in the day, and a few sims.

I remember Dungeon Siege, that was a good one. Did you ever hear of Stronghold (RTS)? I spent several zillion hours playing that. It should be a model of what makes a successful game; the simple map editor let you create some wonderful scenarios very easily.

I am wondering whether I should spring for Crusader Kings: Deus Vult or if I should wait for Civ V to come out... or if I should save my time and money on more productive pursuits... like that will ever happen...

haha, I'm not sure on that last one, since I haven't played CK:DV, and Civ V does look like it might be good, so it's a hard decision, I'd say. And no, I haven't played Stronghold, although I've been told that it's good - I just don't know anywhere that has it for sale!

Also, if anyone's played inFamous, what's your opinion on the new Cole model? I'm actually leaning towards liking the old Cole more, I must admit. This one just seems a bit... I dunno, just not right, I don't think

Stronghold really is a beautiful game... although it is 2D, you can still create stunning castles and landscapes, and the gameplay can get very exciting for a strategy game. But since it is nearly 10 years old, no wonder it is hard to find.

I saw that Firaxis is incorporating a couple of features from another old favorite, Imperialism... the ability to "court" city-states who vote for you and give bonuses is practically copied from that game. Which is good, because I've long wished that I could combine the two.

I used to be a world champion gamer on a few different games back in the days of Super NES, and then later on with the N64 and PS2 formats. On the Super NES, I won the 1995 Blockbuster World Video Game Championship. Later on the N64 I won a few contests of speed for Doom 64. Then came the PS2 and a snowboarding series called SSX. I was the world racing champion during the first two games of the series, and EA Sports flew me up to Canada to preview the developement for the 3rd game. The cool part was they let me design my own snowboard on the PS2 version, and you can eventually earn it with the "Mac" character. The board has "FBX" written on the bottom, which is short for my net nickname.

I sort of gave up on console gaming when World of Warcraft came out, so now that's pretty much all I play along with emulation of classic systems. Chess wasn't something I took serious until my 30's.

I've been around video games since the Intellivision way back when. I had an XBOX 360 a couple of years ago but it broke. I pretty much stay along PC games now and only play 2 or 3, including the Unreal Anthology, Civ 3 and Warcraft 3.

Geez, that's pretty cool, FBX - especially how I actually remember SSX 3, (actually called Boarder Zone here, for some reason) and I used Mac quite a lot - pity I played it on PC, else I probably would've used your board at some point. Still, that's definately an excellent life of gaming you've had!

Firebrand- That's 133t man. If only I could have told my parents that, I might have had a richer video game experience as a kid.

I would love to do MMO's but I don't like the idea of paying a monthly fee or not having a life (ok, well, maybe its too late for that).

I would love to go on World of Warcraft, but I don't want to rot away in my bedroom down to 80 lbs with the stench of death all around me. LOL too dramatical?
