Instead of war and force, governments, political groups, ethnical groups, religious groups, etc.,when they don't agree speaking, should solve their differences with sport events, and the UN could settle which sports.
It's interesting that this post appeared when it did. I was thinking something very similar just the other day. It's a very nice thought. If only it could be a reality.
They, then, will probably kill one to another in sport events.
Yes, that's what I did: I asked myself what the World is? There is a purpose of life?... and, even more, I asked myself, Why governments, political, religious groups use war and force when they don't agree speaking? And I got the opinion (the pesimistic one) that they will try to kill one to another anyway. Precissely because they are governments, political, religious groups. They make just the opposite they say they are for.
I know that we don't like pesimistic opinions... but the only way to understand the reality is look at it directly. It's not necessary winds to build a dream... it's necessary hands, legs, arms, and understand the reality. No matter if it like us or not.
This is an interesting post. Thanks.
Although it is difficult, let's try to keep this out of politics and religion, cause those are rules in this wonderful website.
I know your point of view is very realistic, but remember what our great thinker Jose Martí use to think about social systems and world in general, he trusted in the goodness of men to reform laws in the future , instead of changing with destruction, to build a better world.
Let's remember one part of the lyrics of that great Lennon's song Imagine:
You may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will be as one

very interesting though but it dont solve teh main question , who is right and who is wrong , yes you can be wrong and you can win the game too , because of many reason for example your player think they are right , ypur player are stronger etc , take haiti and USA and supose they decide solve his diference in a basket ball game , who do you thiong is gona a win? ( tree second to answer0 yes THe Haiti team win !! becouse the reason was at her side !! hm some thing not match here let me see , did really haiti win?
Well; that would be better than in a real war, at least lives were saved in that hypothetical case. Anyway the stronger wins. But in this hypothetical case, another sport could have been selected too, with more even options.
it is not the case the sport doesn't really matter what i saying it that you can win but may be the reason is not on your side yo can win and you can be wrong
Same as real life. You want justice as I want. But anyway, that would be when justice can not be applied, when opponents can not reach an agreement even with reasonable mediators, when they would decide to go to war.

What is the purpose of our own life?
Until the earth experiences something that forces world cooperation, we are victims by our own hands. It will be a joyous day when we realize that world-wide cooperation is the only way to ensure our survival and the survival of life managed by us. The problem is how to agree on structure and control, for without it peace is but a dream.
wow
Let me suppport the idea of a 7-day time limit. I would like to play more chess960 and prefer the 7-day time limit.
I never take more than a day or two, but you never know when the electricity will be out for a few days thanks to some terrorist, no doubt one of those _____ .[Fill in the blank with the name of the latest enemy-du-jour.]
Yes, it is all about the purpose of your life, and that is why we are chess learners. Finding and then actually Making the Strong Move in Chess is not a lot different from using our accumulated wisdom to live in a way that preserves each other's life, liberty and pursuiit of --- err, what are we pursuing again?
