For all you war buffs, What is your favorite battle/short war.
I would go with;
The Yom Kippur War, which I feel had the most suprising win of all. Israel fought v.s. three countries who had militarys that totaled 3 times thiers and still won.
The Merrimack v.s. the Monitor; the Battle of the first ironclad warships during the Civil war
any others?
Robert E Lee
Waterloo
I hate battles but i have some examples:At 480 BC Leonidas with 300 of his personal guards at Thermopylae repulsed the Persians' frontal attacks for the first two days, killing roughly 20,000 of the enemy troops and losing very few of their own. The Persian elite unit known to the Greeks as Immortals were held back.On the third day, a Greek traitor named Ephialtes led the Persian general by a mountain track to the rear of the Greeks....
And i have to mention Alexander the Great (at 330 BC)who gave Great battles and reached next to India..This was his empire:
One of two reasons why I like the Yom Kippur War is because of Lieutenant Zvika Greengold, the most bad ass SOB I have ever heard of. Look him up on Wikipedia.
i believe tobruk is my favorite battle. australians surrounded by the afrika korps the first time the mighty panzers where ever defeated...
closely following it was Kokoda where a few malitia men held the full force of the japanese jungle army.
both of these battles occurred in world war two...
both of these were mainly fought by australians
both of these were fought against the odds
and neither of these lost!
cool
The Russian-tyrkian war....
Give that man a cigar for having the best answer!
The first world war.
