Well, I've been to try-outs and I still can't decide. Loads say that I should go for the Cello, And more have said the Flute. But all my school friends say the Violin. Can you help me decide? The final disision is mine, but I could use some help. And if you play one of those 3, and is willing to give advise, please do so.

First of all, of course, congratulations.  I play none of the instruments you do, but I do participate in some music at my own school.  You already know the decision is yours, and you should take advantage of that fact--what do you enjoy most?  Or if you don't realize whether you have any preference yet, maybe you should observe if any of the instruments you play are needing a gap to fill in the group, and help out that way.

hi i play the piano (grade4) violin (grade 5) and the saxaphone at grade 4 standard the violin is quite hard because u hav to move ur fingers around to tune it so i assume the cello is the same. the cello would be useful in an orchestra because not too many people play it but the violin is also useful. as for the flute it would be useful if you had big lungs because then u do not have to breathe so often. and so allowing u to play longer pieces of music. i hope this has helped u  but i'm sure that whichever u choose u will enjoy it but it does require practice which can be annoying i usually do mine before school in the mornings but i have to get up at 6:30 as a result as i said i hope u enjoy whichever instrument u choose

I play a number of instruments, including violin, clarinet, and sax.

Violin and Cello are string instruments, basically of the same type. If you are mostly interested in string instruments, I would recommend starting with violin, and move on to cello if you want at a later time. Violin is aguably the most difficult instrument to learn - but I found that after many years of playing violin, picking up new instruments was quite easy.

If you're interested in the woodwinds (flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone), I would suggest learning clarinet first. It is the most difficult of the woodwinds due to having more complex fingering. Moving from clarinet to sax, for example, was very easy.

Nothing definitive there, but I hope some of that helps a bit..

Have you talked to people who play the instruments you are considering to get their input?  Maybe you should also talk to a music teacher.  When you've done all your research, trust your gut feeling and you'll do the right thing.  good luck.  one more thing...I'm sure you'll do alot better than I did when I tried to play the viola in junior high school.

Do neither. Play the guitair, it makes a MUCH nicer sound, I can vouch for that living with a brother who's keen on the violin (needless to say it drives me mental, would YOU be able to stand listening to Oh When the saints completely out of tune each night.) The guitar lets you experiment with a wider range of genres.

Yes, well, I've tried the guitars, and I didn't really like them, much. However, I chose the violin. I think that I don't mhave big enough lungs for the flute yet, and the Cello is quite hard. Thank you all for your opinions.

Not really. We musical specialists tend to not spread ourselves too thin.
