because High School Musical, Jonas Brotheres and Hannah Montana sucks. Harry Potter was supposed to come out in November and Twilight filled the gap - which is great! The movie is actuallu good and it is so popular because of the teenage girls are crazy about Edward Cullen and Robert Pattinson. So they all are like ''oh merry me and have kids with me...'' But I say, let it rather be TWILIGHT than high school musical!

I hate it because unlike most people I read Dracula so everything I hear about vampires is fake, and then GLITTER SKIN COMES. That was probably the worst thing I had ever heard. Ever.

I'm going to imagine that the answer is the same for all fantasy worlds created in many novels and stories.. the world we live in (reality) can be difficult, full of pain, and less enjoyable than the imaginative worlds of Twilight, Interview with a vampire, Lasher, and the like...

I haven't read Twilight either, I have a hard enough time finishing books assigned by my professors.  I'm just saying, this is may be the answer to why such stories become so popular.  Some people think life is cruel so a bite from a vampire would be welcomed by them, personally, I have enough to worry about!

Just fyi, the original dracula didn't explode into flame when exposed to the sun; it just made him grumpy.

Yeah, but that's because he was like the Chuck Norris of vampires.

Twilight, I don't know, I guess I'm just not into it as some people. Sparkling vampires? Almost mary su and gary stu-ish leads? Nuff said. I haven't read any of the books or fully watched the whole movie but from what I've heard... Reading from the summaries and reviews of it, it just doesn't sound too interesting. It seems like one of those novels that ooze too much angst and is written kind of shallowly.

Stephanie Meyer's new book, the host, seems more promising.

And Carlssen isn't too bad at chess.
