I think my favorite moment from "The Office" is when Dwight is chasing the bat, bag's Meredith's head with the bat inside the bag, whacks her a couple of times and takes off the bag. He then says to her, "You're welcome." Too funny.

Yours?

Dude, the British Office is incredible. I was watching that one and dying laughing when no one I knew had ever heard of it. Ricky Gervais has got to be one of the smartest, funniest geniuses to grace the comedic world in a long time. Steve Carell is hilarious, too. He brings a likeability factor to the manager character that Ricky left out intentionally, but it has made the U.S. series more interesting to me because as incompetent as Michael (Steve Carell) is, most of the other main characters find reasons to like him. He has moments in the show where he is loyal, honest, dependable, and vulnerable. It's a deeper character development than Gervais created. In the British version, the manager is just an obnoxious jerk. In the US version, he's mainly incompetent and dumb, but a "good guy" at the heart of it. I think that factor is going to carry this series for YEARS in the US. Ricky only planned to do 1 season of The Office in England, so he could afford to give his main character no redeeming qualities. Which version do I like better - the US version, and not because I'm American. The US version has been on longer and has developed characters and relationships in very detailed ways. It is in a word "amazing" and maybe the best thing on television right now. Funny. Smart. Unpredictable. Fine acting. Fine writing. Fine improvisation. You gotta love it.

Please tell me you don't really watch that show. I used to have a high opinion of you.

One of the best times that showed his "good guy" side was when Pam did that drawing (painting?) of the office and displayed it at an art show.  Everyone said they would come by and see her, when almost no one did, and then as the show was closing down late at night, in walks Michael, takes one look at her work, and says, "We should buy this for the office.  That would look really good up on the wall."  Pam grabbed him and gave him a big hug.  For those of you that don't watch the show, this won't make any sense/sound dumb, but it was really good writing and a scene well done.  Of course the time when Jim blurts out that he is falling in love with Pam was brilliant, too.  The awkwardness felt after that line was uttered could be cut with a knife.

The beauty of this show is that, if you watch it long enough, you will come to realize that you are not tuning in to see Michael's hijinks for 30 minutes.  This show has the ability to make you howl one minute and then angry the next and then sad the next.  Like the time Dwight saved Jim's butt when he jumped in and stopped Pam's fiancee almost killing Jim.  I don't think anyone was laughing at that scene.

Yeah, the art show ending was GREAT to show Michael as a good guy. And every scene with Jim and Pam are great, too. I love all the pranks that they pull on Dwight, but the one where Jim threw Andy's phone up into the suspended ceiling and called it over and over...oh wow. That's brilliant!

Best quote of the entire show in 4 words:

"IT IS YOUR BIRTHDAY."

Remember that one?  When Dwight was the party planning committee?  This was what was on the banner.  Hilarious!!  Laughing
