Back to basic membership...

Hello chess.com staff:) In an earlier post I found out that it was possible to become a premium member temporarily and then drop back down to a basic member once I no longer had the time (due to the new college semester starting). I orginally had a basic membership before I made the one month jump, which comes to an end the 6th of September. However, when I went to "downgrade" today (quite sadly, the temporary premium membership was excellent and both a fun and learning experience!!), I was redirected to a page that indicated I would once more have to pay the roughly $30 cost of the basic membership. I was under the impression of my pre-premium membership discussions with chess.com staff that I would not have to repay to continue my old basic membership (which would end sometime next January). Could a staff member please shed some light on the subject as to how I can retrieve my basic membership for which I originally paid? If one month "dues" of premium membership needs to be paid for (about $14 or so I believe?), wouldn't that be all I had to pay instead of a new $30? I would appreciate your help in helping me resolve this situation! Thanks a lot, this website has been absolutely great and I'm extremely satisfied with all the features and the service I've had- I hope to get the premium membership again in the future someday!:)

       Sincerely,

       Steve (croyboss)

Hello Steve. I understand that you would like to end your monthly Diamond membership as you have a new college semester starting. I have now made sure to set your monthly Diamond membership to end on 9/6/2009 when your monthly Diamond membership will expire and your account will be returned to a basic membership as you have requested.

Thanks so much Patzer24. I do realize that I must've "canceled" my premium membership (simultaneously canceling my original basic membership as well) when I merely intended to "downgrade" back to my basic membership. Thanks for forgiving me this mistake and allowing me to retain my basic membership- I really appreciate the service. Thanks chess.com:)
