First 1000 paid up members should get differnet (founding member) star?

I am not so sure about this. What happens after the first 1,000 membership purchases? Then all the rest will feel left out and may not make a membership purchase because they do not get this special founding member star.

you probably wont get a different star, but next year your star will have a number on it of how many years you have been a subscriber.

How about this ... permenant note on the users homepage saying they were one of the first 1000 to subscribe ... and/or possibly where they came within that first 1000 .... Its kudos for the user,  plus won't really affect any other members who didn't make it in the first 1000

Carl Sagan (the astronomer) told a story that when he was a kid he went to his local library and asked for a book about stars the librarian gave him a book about Hollywood actors. So when such web advertisements pop up an article about 'Stars' the advertiser most likely thinks their article is about movie stars. I would guess that the advertiser is assuming that those who like to read about such personalities like also to buy diet programs.
