Yes I'm a premium member also. It was well worth the cost to join.

The only gripe I have is that the Chess mentor clock is really distracting.  I find I am not learning cuz im too concerned about wasting time.  I would love it if it was based on a point system and each lesson costed so many points.  Just an idea.  Any thoughts on this?

While I agree with this, I am assuming there are others who prefer to be able to power through as many as possible in the timespan.

I do not regret becoming a gold member at all.  I love it.  And I mentioned wanting a platinum membership for christmas so I might be upgrading soon.

nice comments, but i have to disagree with the free trial idea..... free trials are counter productive as long as people can create multiple accounts....and i know its not allowed, but the hard truth is, that if free two week trials were offered, then more peple would try to cheat the system by creating multiple accounts to get multiple free trials, this has been a major problem on other sites, and in fact, the number of new members would actually DECREASE as a result, as potential premium members would be tempted.....

I bought the year membership within a few days of finding the site.  I was leaving the game of warcraft with a monthly subscription so I had the disposable income to slide into this site.  When the year is up (or perhaps I'll only make it to the summer) I will upgrade to the next tier.

i think this website is worth charging people to go on it. like $5 a year. and make it you can pay by phone (some people) think i better not use credit card just in case. just like you said you need more people you should give them a 1 2 or 3 months free trial. well done chess.com and staff you have done a realy good job be proud!

glad to hear it you are enjoying it! how many paying members are there? honestly - not enough. i expected to be able to at least cover costs. still, i'm having a good time. i just wish more people would say "$30 or $80 for Chess.com??? that's the cheapest price per hour entertainment available!!" i think it is :)

For the 3rd time in my posts, why do you not offer a $200 membership. I would buy it immediately. This is sometthing thet you may want to give some thinking as you may have not as you never answered me.

And by the way with currency exchange my membership costs me another $10 and I have no problem with this.

i don't know what a $200 membership would be :) and not sure why you would buy it if you didn't even get the $79 one.

anyway, we are actually going to change memberships in the next few weeks. no big surprises, but we are simplifying things. it won't be more expensive, it will be slightly less actually.

so good, maybe I will consider the lifetime membership in the near future.

btw: some members, even the paid-members will do something to violate the rules of chess.com,  e.g, sent message to invite people ..., is it possible that chess.com warn them first, and close their account if they keep doing so ? especial the paid -members. I believe most of them are just overlook the rules.
