Good point.  Even I, a 1100, beat a rated 1500.

This is EXACTLY why I hate quick. Quick is simply dependent on who can make good or idiotic moves quickest. It doesn't take any skill at all, just a fast hand, fast mouse, or premoves. =(

I like quick because you can use a whole new type of stategy.  You anticipate when to use premoves, and when to make appropriate sacrafices.  It's all very fun.  Smile

You are wrong Turkey, it revolves around quick thinking and extraordinary intuition. Blitz chess also helps you play good fast chess. Having the pressure of thinking quickly and being able to play many games gives you valuable experience. I for one am terrible at long games, but are my town's Division B blitz Champion

How many times have you seen a good game of chess in quick? It seems, to me anyway, that a quick game always ends in an unforeseen "lucky" checkmate or one player losing on time.

I guess that you are correct that whoever makes better moves faster should win, but I don't think that happens to often, at least at lower levels.
