Another new format thread

I think the format is mostly ok once the bugs get fixed (e.g. I apparently have 504 new messages right now after I just deleted everything in my in box).

My main problem, like I'm sure more people have, is with the notes section. I honestly cannot understand why anyone would think notes is the most important thing and needs to be front, top, and center. For heavy vote chess players like myself, the New Comments section is far more important, and for everyone, the current games section is probably the most important. My last note was 3 months ago. I don't need to be reminded of this everytime I log in.

I like the the new format. It's good to have a change every now and then.

Huh? There's a new format? Must have slipped me by...

I pretty much agree with everything the original poster said.  I would also add that I miss looking at another players profile and seeing our record against each other.  I know that is a small thing, but I miss it.  I have a few friends on here I have played dozens of times and I don't want to go count to see how many of those I won.

I hate it - please change it back!

Um let me reiterate: I really like the new format.  I miss one minor detail from the old one and I'm sure the few bugs will be fixed soon.  So overall great job Chess.com!

FYI - the "notes" section on your home page is just a placeholder for the upcoming feed. that is where you will get results of games that your friends played and other key interactions. for now its just notes, but soon it will be an interactive feed.

thanks. Sounds like a good idea erik. I will also reiterate that I like the new look (perhaps I find everything generally a little too large compared to how it used to be, at least it seems so on the small screen of my laptop).

Im sure you expected the over-reaction that is going on in the forums right now, but perhaps a blog post regarding the new format would help.

One problem I seem to be having right now is that I cannot navigate the upper right hand commands (where my Home link is) when I am using the iPad. Worked fine on the laptop. Not sure if others are having this bug.

Please be relevant, helpful and nice? WTF? What fun is that??

Anyways, the new format obviously won't please everyone 100% and neither will any other format. So far it's OK by me and the bottom line IMHO is we either get to "like it or lump it" or go play someplace else.

I don't want to see notes or a feed or anything about my "interactions" front and center. I'm here to play chess and learn about chess, so I'd like to see my games front and center, and possibly info about new articles as long as I can be selective in terms of the authors and types of articles that take up that valuable space.

Please don't forget that this is a chess site, not a social networking site.
