Can you be more specific? Are you talking about your own personal average rating over time?
average chess rating
That is not good idea, because I would like to see if someone rated 2100 in online has actually a blizt of 1100...
What would be the point in having the average?
yes my own personal rating, and skymarshal ,average rating can be separate for blitz, bullet, standard etc, iam not talking about average rating for all time limits put together
Oh, I see. It may be an improvement. As long as everything keeps being as it is now, and another "average" rating is added to the ones that already exist, it seems fine to me.
i feel its time chess.com show the average rating in our profiles, data like highest rating achieved or rating of highest rated opponent we won against doesnt mean anything,as rating changes wildly like +100 or +150 for newcomers, average rating says more about the quality of players than other things
A lot more info is now available to premium members. Not average, but the RD and full history.
Perhaps you should consider a premium membership.
@notmtwain premium membership has a lot of features, but i feel average rating is a pretty fundamental stat, and paying money for that doesnt feel right, besides i will probably waste all the extra features that i dont use anyway,,but i have to admit that stats picture looks cool

You have a history here going back two years and your rating was as low as 869 but you started playing a lot as an 1119 a month a month ago month and you reached a peak of 1407 just yesterday until it fell to 1318 today.
What is your average? It's not so easy, is it? Do we ignore the old history and just use your last month's performance?
The whole idea of the Glicko System is to tell us how reliable the ratings are and the RD (rating deviations) tells how much your rating can fluctuate from game to game.
When you are just starting the RD can be as high as 350. Your blitz RD is now down to 23, which means your rating is judged to be a decent estimate of your current strength.

fair point, but then averages tend to stabilise over time, for example my average oppn rating is 1179,but its been a long long time since i played anyone less than 1200,if i keep playing for some more time,it will gradually increase and stabilise, its the same thing, but its my average rating instead of the oppn
