I think the main problem is called "Generation Gap".

If the OP can delete comments it's not a forum. It's a blog.

Interestingly, the OP yeres whats his name has blocked a large number of members because the great omnipotent yeres doesn't agree with their forum posts. I'm sure some of them would like to contribute to this thread but...they've already been blocked.

Now, he wants to delete their content too?! Insane!

So much for open dialog and conversation!

Dude, it's the internet. Get over it. Better yet, you think you're so special, the smartest guy on the planet start your own website. And don't let the door hit you on the posterior on your way out.

Should the author of a topic on post blocking be able to block posts from people who make comments about the author, if the author himself has commented on comments made by people who have responded to posts by people that the author has previously blocked, unless the blocked posters have commented previously on threads related to blocking users that contain posts about authors of unrelated threads who nevertheless have blocked comments about comment blocking?

This thread is not about "comment blocking" but about deletion of a comment about the author of a topic.

Take the response of Pokernator in this thread.

Pokernator is expressing his opinion about me - the author of this thread.  Under my suggestion, I could request that the comment of Pokernator be deleted from this thread.  My request can be DENIED. Or it can be approved.

The post of Pokernator does not contribute anything to the pros or cons of comment deletion simply because his post is about me not the topic.

If Pokernator does not like what I suggested, the civil thing to do is to say what he wants to say such as ---- "It stinks" or "it sucks".

But to post a comment about me is inappropriate. Even if all he's doing is respond to the comment of Blakefox_584 "Toughen up big guy or the internet will eat you..."

I was just asking a simple question.

Try to "never argue with an idiot."  Or people won't be able to tell the two of you apart.

Is the OP arguing with himself, or everyone in this thread?  Maybe both.

And breathtaking, self-referential bullshit wins out?

It's the internet, dude.  Get over it.

I'm picturing 3 trillion humans singing that all hand-in-hand on the planet 200 years from now as they either suffocate or starve to death.

In other words - Attack the message not the messenger.

I'm agnostic about the comments being deleted, but this particular quote is spot on imo.

It is usually fallacious to engage in ad hominem attacks.

I think ideas should be as vigorously discussed as possible, and even a little colorful language thrown in here and there to spice up the discussion.

But it is not logically valid to try to discredit the messenger UNLESS the messenger IS the message and unless the point about the messenger directly relates to the point of dispute with respect to the message.

Religion on one side ("The Messenger"), and Censorship on the other ("Why would anyone object...").  So knock yourselves out.  You deserve each other.

The Censor has "attacked" just about everyone in this thread, and "the Messenger" is just warming up.  It's a match made in heaven, God forbid.

    Let the apocalyptic metaphors fly!
