Feature: Hide opponents rating

Sort:
msiipola

Much of fear and tension comes from seeing your opponents rating. Against lower rated, you "must" win. Against higher rated you maybe lose your confidence.

So If you could hide your opponents rating during the game, you could play the board and not the man (or women).

Yeah, my/the question is... how?

The first thing would be not showing the opponents name and rating on the board when playing.

Maybe you could put a piece of black tape on your monitor right where the rating shows up?

This would be an interesting feature for the chess.com staff to look in to!

The point of me playing a 2000+ rated player is? The whole points of ratings is to play someone your evenly matched with.

tarrasch

I like the idea, and I think it should be very easy to implement.

I like to see their rating. It's my rating I would like to hide.

I just posted a very similar idea a few days ago; I'd like to play in a tnmt with no ratings displayed (which would mean no names displayed either otherwise you could always look up your opponents ratings).

No one seemed very interested however except in making jokes about the tnmt winner being declared "anonymous."
