I like the new format.  One additional suggestion:  On the Share/Groups&Teams menu selection - please default the page to show "My Groups and Teams".  I'm almost always more interested in the groups I'm a member of than the thousands that I have nothing to do with.

    Thanks!

In the new format, the Home page list of games shows little green boxes in front of some games.  Anyone know what these represent?

I have played beta on my desktop and original on my laptop for a while now and clearly prefer the original more.

I like forum layout equally as old one. I like there is an option to see online games as list or board setup.  What I dont like is the colourings of my themes dont seem to apply to my games archive and stats anymore. I had them at optimal highlighting, so I could skim through quick. Now there is just this blue white default colouring, which creates this block of information that isnt as easy to look at. It as if I have to concentrate to look at the info. I didnt notice anything different on live chess. My conclusion is, is there really that much of a change that it could be considered a format change?

Must admit that there are more good things to add / fix than to go changing the whole layout.

Implementing polls for groups for example.

Recent changes to the beta format look excellent.  I find it much easier to find what I am looking for at a glance.

Question:  Any plans (or is there already a setting) to make the page width variable so we can go wider (and get more position snapshots on one page as a result for example).

    Chess.com seems more like an app than a website in this update. Not exactly a bad thing though;

I'm split on the new beta look.  I like the new online chess page layout, which I guess is the most important aspect of the changeover, since the chess is the raison d'etre for the site.

But I don't like the layout of my home page at all.  I hardly ever use Notes, and yet they've been given the prime position, plastered top and center in the widest column.  The least important feature is stuck where it's most intrusive.

I like the look of the individual thread pages in the forums (aside from the preachy squawking slapped into every appearance of the comment box), but the main forum pages that show the listings of threads have gained quite a bit of vertical space, which means more scrolling to see the same amount of information.  That especially affects my surfing habits, as I often have many windows besides the browser open simultaneously, and I shorten the height of the browser window to gain display space for other stuff.

Oh yeah, another part of the beta home page layout I don't like is the trophy section, which is just a collection of arcane symbols with no labels or explanatory text.

I like the new look....it looks very slick and modern (especially the forums).I agree with Cystem Phailure though that the notes are a bit too invasive and "in your face".also another detail I don't like is in the game archives that online and live games are lumped together...it was better with a "my live chess" and a "my online chess" sections.

I hadn't noticed that since I very rarely play live games.  I agree that seems like a major mistake to throw both types of games in together in the game history.  It's already confusing enough when you review an archive of someone who plays a lot of 960 games and they're mixed in with the regular games-- it's a pain to have to keep track of the little symbols for every single entry to see what's what.

If they're going to lump everything together it would be nice to have a drop down option so one could select a subset and show only CC, or 960, or live, and if that option was there it could even have subsets for the 3 time categories for live games.

I miss the "next game" link. I think it should be returned.

With the new design, the custom logo of my theme shows incomplete. It's a blue chess.com logo, but it shows: "chess.c"

I don't like the new format either,  I agree that the Online Chess is more difficult to comprehend, I liked having all of my current games in a list. I too hope that it isn't forced upon us, like you have an option to change to it or not.

I found the new look to be "clunky".  It may be fine if your using a nice new computer, but on an older one it's just to slow to be usable.

I would ask:  What does the staff/programer/designer think has been improved?

You can turn it off with

or by using the link in the footer.

Aren't those two links exactly the same? I can't figure out how to leave the beta version; clicking on that did nothing. Frown

    Turn it off with:

    http://www.chess.com/set_use_beta.html?set=0

Or, as BorgQueen stated, there is a link at the bottom of the page to leave the beta test version and return to the old/original version.
