Is there a way to turn off the timer in Tactics Trainer?

Instead of the focus being on "how fast" you find the tactic (thus majorly impacting your score), I wish it was just a matter of how accurate you are.

Yes I think so by playing it unrated.

It is difficult to disagree with the Tyrant on this one, in an actual game of chess accuracy is far more important than speed. The tactics trainer should reflect this, at least a little.

You can turn off the timer, though it still rates based on the time taken. Turn it off, focus on solving the tactic correctly, and don't worry about the ratings hit. Strive to keep your passed percentage as high as possible.

That said, having an untimed but rated mode would be nice.

When you set it to unrated you will still be able to compare your time when correctly answered against the average time of everyone who has done that tactic. Which will give you an idea of how well you are doing

I agree with Tyrant, its very dissapointing when receiving the full negative value for a puzzle while getting it correct but being a slow. If the timer is required to access tactic ability I would prefer the timer bring the value down to 0 points for long thought but accurate play. Big fan of chess.com and all its learning tools.

Use chess mentor a lot; it's untimed - and probably better for you.
