Move by Telling

    Hello all, there's something crossed in my mind, a little crazy and funny thing. For your information, I used to use the same device that the woman pictured above wear; a headset.

    I usually allot my lunch-break to play chess here, and this is what I mean: Will chess.com provide us to be able to play chess by telling the moves instead of clicking our mouse?

    So that we can play while we're laying on the bed or doing something with our hands.

    Wonder if it can be made.

    This is already achievable using standard software e.g. e-Speaking. (I can recommend watching the demo video Talking to your Computer : Game 4).

    Did you know you can also move pieces on a computer chessboard using thought? I didn't think so.

    @curtfines: Then chess.com will be number 1 chess site with no doubt.

    @artfizz: Wow, thought? Wonder how it works...

    "Here is a video that demonstrates a device that can read your mind and use your thoughts to control devices. It’s not quite ready for prime time, but it is easy to imagine advancements in 5 to 10 years. The actual demo starts about 10 minutes in."

    @artfizz: I'm also sure it will be on the next 5 -10 years. Let's see how techs amaze us.

    @curtfines: Any links?

    Do we really want technology reading our minds directly?  I mean we're already conditioned to expect certain things at certain times of year.

    I honestly believe tv's already sending out a signal, whether on or off, that affect human brain wave patterns.

    I suppose i'm just a backwater hillbilly that would rather bang on his piano than have a computer or tv on.  Of course at the office it's a different story altogether.

    I remember seeing a computer mind control device in the mid 90s. You put your right index finger into this sensor and could control a handful of applications including a lie detector (well, maybe not so much control that one). I think the principle was that your brain activity had some minimal impact on the conductivity of your skin on the left vs. right side of your body. I tried it out on an application that had you control a skier and with intense concentration you could actually crudely influence the direction he skied and navigate the gates, but the most profound effect was the headache it left me with.

    Maybe all these stuffs only appear in TV or sci-fi serials.

    1. d3 is Kasparov's move, believe it or not.
