The new live ipad chess in the chess.com app is sweet!..I have been waiting a long time for this and I have to say so far so good. Its smooth and fast and the drag and drop is great! Anyone else tried it yet?

I've played the online chess app on my wife's I-pod so I can only imagine how great that should be on an Ipad and live to boot.

The live feature on the iPad is great!  But...  there are some other improvements I'd like to see to the iPad app:

    • Change the alert sound.  The default alert sound with no popup alert is confusing.  Make is chess-specific, like the sound of a piece being moved.
    • Respect the rotation!  This is one of the most irritating problems with the iPad version.  Even if you don't do a landscape mode, at least rotate 180 when the iPad is held upside down.  When charging and using the iPad in portrait mode, I usually hold it upside down so the charger connection is at the top.
    • Use the extra space!  There's not a lot of difference between the iPad version and the iPhone version at 2X.  Use the space for a move list when in landscape mode.
    • Have a settings option to allow automatic sign-in for live chess when the app is started.  Even better would be displaying a list of friends that are online for live chess.  (I know you can see that by trying to create a challenge, but it would be nice just to see it on the home screen.

I have no doubt the chess.com team can do a great job on the iPad app, but it has a ways to go to be better than the ICC iPad app, which IMO looks better and has better functionality (except missing online chess!).

Thanks for all your hard work.

With the new app update (iPod Touch) just released a few days ago I now get ads, but I didn't get them before - I'm a premium member. How can I stop the ads? It keeps directing me to become a premium member...

I am really enjoying live chess on my ipad, although I have run into something odd.  In a game today I came to a drawing R+K v K+P position.  The app would not allow me to move my pawn and my clock just ticked away.  Fortunately my opponent took mercy on me and accepted my draw offer.

Not sure if this is a known issue or not.

On my iPad 2 I can't play the daily puzzle. Won't let me move the pieces. Oh, well...have to go old school, I guess

It just started working again - perhaps there was something askew with the liver server last night.

This was a mistake, caused by a one-digit error in the code. :(

Gold members should NOT be seeing ads - and the fix has already been submitted to Apple.

    Very sorry!

Fixed. The new version will not show ads for any premium member.

I suppose you are trying through the browser. The IPod, IPad, and IPhone browsers are, for lack of a better word, crap. Apple needs to make a better browser (of course right now I wouldn't be using Safari in any way, shape, or form due to a huge security risk that hasn't been fixed last I checked)

@DeepGreene, as a hobby programmer I know the pains a single bit can bring let alone a couple of bytes! lol, thank you (and all the programmers) for the hard work and fixing issues like this.

What browser is most like the one you think apple needs to make?

Yeah, you can not do anything on mobile devices on the forums, other than type.  You can not put in games, quote correctly, or even press return and have it enter correctly.

hey, sorry if it has been debated before, cant find the search funcyion in this forum:

iPad/iPhone and Live Tournaments are 2 major incredible upgrades to chess.com.

    2 feedbacks:

    - iPad/IPhone app lacks the premove option, which make it almost impossible to play 1 minute games

    - Live tournament for iPad/iPhone would be the graal!!

    Congrats for your devs

shhQuiet - the rotational thing is fixed in my version, did you get the new one a few months ago?
