No trophy setting

I would like to request a setting that would stop me from receiving trophies. I have met many people on this site that also think it is a waste of time.  If we can ban receiving challenges or invites to groups then we should have a box to tick to not receive trophies

Hear!  Hear!  Scut, you can send mine back, if you want Tongue out

But you played a heck of a game, nonetheless....

Would this setting really be necessary? Trophies can simply be discarded easily if they are not desired. Receiving trophies cannot be a waste of time, because it costs no time at all, although I suppose one could argue that it takes a few seconds to view a trophy.

Personally, I am in favor of trophies. I like this feature of the site very much.

The point is not why I should or shouldn't want a trophy.  The point is if I don't want to receive them there should be a means to not receive them

Some people block invites to groups, some block friend invites, some block challenges, some set restrictions on who can send them challenges.  Should these people  have to explain why.   All I want is a tick box to stop trophies.

Also "whirlwind" ,  trophies can be a waste of time.  I have had people who have given me trophies message me at a later date and deride me for not sending them a thank you because they sent me a trophy.  It is fine you like trophies. I didn't say I wanted to eliminate everyone getting trophies. There are many who think the whole trophy thing is childish like a first grader getting a star on their forehead.

I just want to ask the chess site to consider adding a box to tick to stop receiving trophies

@OP: I respect your opinion. I don't think anyone demands that you give a reason for not wanting trophies. But if you just want to tell the staff of your desire, you can fill out a support ticket under "Site Feedback & Suggestions." That way, your issue will be sent directly to people who can readily assist you.

I am sorry to learn that you have encountered rudeness from people over trophies. They were truly out of line to deride you. Still, the waste of time is not the trophies themselves, but rather the unnecessary, derisive messages following the reception of trophies. This problem is actually unrelated to trophies; it is simply abuse, and this can be reported to the staff via a support ticket as well, if deemed necessary.

In the chat box write "And don't send me no trophy either",  I feel the same way about being blessed, don't bless me unless you have an in with Got himself.  I like the trophies though.

I agree with the blessed thing jcarroll but I don't want trophies if the sender gets mad because I don't think to thank them.

I'm moved to suggest two possible solutions to the problem of being sent a trophy and subsequently finding oneself being chided for not having responded with a "Thank You."

    1) Respond "Hey, dude, chill...take it easy, man, ....It's all good!"

    2) Explain to the indignant person that he or she is made of rubber, while you are composed, oddly enough, entirely of glue.  Then express your concern that any negativity that he or she might attempt to direct toward you will, in all likelihood, rebound instantly toward him (or her of course), leading to a presumably undesired outcome in which the unhappy individual finds him- or herself entirely covered with previously self-generated negative adhesions.

(P.S.  I strongly recommend Against any use of the phrase:  "Who died and made You 'Miss Manners'?!")

MIL, I beleive you meant I'm rubber and they are glue and whatever they say bounces off of me and sticks to their smarmy little soul. Aside from that small error the explanation was quite Aristotlian, Platoistic and .........sorry I just can't remember that third philosophical  cabinetry.

Dang it!!  I got so carried away with the verbiage I totally sent a bassackwards message!

"Explain to the indignant person that you, for some reason, happen to be made completely out of rubber, while he or she is composed, oddly enough, entirely of glue."  Wish I'd said that.

I seem to recall a childhood phrase similar to that but I think it was somewhat simpler

           I'm glue, your rubber

anything you say sticks to me

and then I go home and show my mother and she calls your mother , who comes over and sees what you said then she goes home and paddles your ass.

        or something like that

I got whupped by a player 377 points higher than moi, & he sent me an "Opimistic" trophy. Does he mean I was optimistic to play him? It was in a tournament, I had no control over who I was matched with.

    What do you think?

PS: I am no longer optimistic.

I'd prefer chocolate covered cherries in the trophy's bowl. Susan .  The ones where the cream of cherry juice inside just runs down your chin when you bite into. Oh and a glass of milk.  I would also need a napkin or two and of course a wet cloth to wipe the chocolate off my fingers.

Or you could just not send me a trophy.  Innocent

I agree with Scut. I'd like to be able to stop the trophies too. Let others make their own choices. The "Happy Anniversary" trophies drive me up a wall. I delete them and they keep coming back anyway. I can't send a message to stop them, because the sender only accepts messages from friends. In order to send him a message, I first have to send him a "friend request" - I don't want to send him a "Friend Request" I just want the "Happy Anniversary" trophies to stop. So why can't I stop the trophies??!!
