Notes should not be public
y not rabbit?
Because anyone who wants to can write that you are a loser and an idiot and that message is front and center on your profile.
Just one of the annoying design decisions when this site finally made the transition from chess site to social networking site.
They needn't be entirely public...
Yes, but then you look like a jerk to majority of the population just because a few immature people on the site like to use insults.
My real question is, why should "notes" -- an almost never used, and in my experience pointless feature -- be the most prominent thing on my "home". The design choice just didn't make sense to me.
I've had just the same experience as NM-Dale and it's really annoying. I'm trying to delete de Note and block the user, but now, I can't find the Note she sent me and delete it...;(. I've looked up at my "home" page but can't see it. Maybe it's dissapeared because I've limited the Notes area to "My friends" list as described by DeepGreene
Make an option 'nobody' right below 'only my friends'.
I've had no trouble deleting the notes. The suggestion I would make, is you should get a notification like you do when you have a message that someone has posted a note on your home page. I don't go there very often.
I suspect there is no notification, since sometimes I do see disparaging notes about a person when I look up their profile.
Mark, in your settings, check the box to receive alerts for notes.
Thanks! I will change my complaining post to that should be the default.
I like notes.
You have the possibility to delete them if you want, and it takes no more than two seconds. If you can't, report the issue: you shall receive assistance by the staff.
