Open Invites

Just a simple question regarding open invites in "slow chess".

Is it true that when someone accepts your open invite, and then decides to abort the game, your invite is completely gone? For example, I put up 3 games before I leave my house, expecting new games to have started for when I return. Instead I find my invites gone, and no games started.

Wouldn't it make more sense if such an accepted-aborted invite would fall back to the open invite section for another player to accept?

    Thanks for your time,

    Titos

On the other side of the coin there is nothing I dislike more than accepting an open invite to play only to find no player present !!Away for the day indeed !! Having wasted my time, after awaiting a possible appearance I  usually abort and try elsewhere .Often I find the best way is  then to use site "Start a new game" facility which quickly gets me a game  and I strongly recommend  it to disgruntled  members.

I agree xqsme, but I'm not advocating to get rid of the abort button, I'm merely saying that once a game is aborted it should go back to the Invite section.

Thank you for your most courteous reply friend Titos75 ! A further consideration I would mention is annoyance  at persons who invite one to enjoy a game with them then make one move  only and immediately disappear...not enjoyable either.

With regard to the lost invite problem,  it is probable, speaking from my own previous problem experience, that the difficulty may take such a lot of re-programming time that the site may be unable to attend to it till much more important/urgent  matters have been dealt with; and we just have to live with it while meantime continuing to enjoy the ever improving results of their on-going hard work.It would be nice to get some reply however so it may be that a suggestion/enquiry needs to be addressed to a different Forum Topic.

A certain occasional lack of response is the one bad featureI find on otherwise outstandingly good site...almost like "Just ignore him and he'll go away "

i strongly advise you to go on Group matches. you will have a opponent willing to fight and to give the best he can for his group and rating !

I appreciate your suggestion. However, I like to practice certain openings whilst playing turn-based games. Therefore, I mainly put Theme Games on the invite list.

What happens? Player X wants to accept an invite, takes mine but doesn't realise that he's taking on a Theme Game. So he aborts. Very understandable, but it would be very convenient to have my invite put back in the invite list.

Open invites for 960 chess are the worst.  People will accept them and then abort because they don't like the layout.  I have created many of these only to find that people have aborted them imidiatly.  I then have to go though the trouble of creating more which I can apparently do only one at a time and I have to reset the settings each time...  Its very frustrating to say the least.

erik no longer says requests are on the list of things to do.

Members suggest lots of things. The staff has its own ideas. You can only hope this topic stays alive for a long time and the idea is deemed a reasonable use of resources.
