Greetings Chess.com and thank you for this great website!
When iniating a new live game of chess, many opponents will just sit there and refuse to move until the game is timed out by the Chess.com system. This is very poor sportsmanship. In the meantime, members just sit and sit and sit. Annoying. When this happens several times in a row, it becomes especially aggravating. People come here to play chess, not sit there waiting for an opponent to move, that never does move.
I have noted that it seems the higher rated players matched up to a lower rated opponent are most guilty of this, as I imagine they are afraid of losing and having their precious rating go down, (my gosh, it would mean the end of the world!). Well if they really are any good, then why would they be concerned with losing to a lower rated player? Also, if a lower rated player is indeed a good chess player, then they deserve to be able to play higher rated players and beat them if they can. This is all about good sportsmanship, or not.
I suggest that Chess.com correct this and make a player play and not just sit there wasting everyone's time.
Thank you for your time and have a great day!

I suggest you shorten your posts or learn to accept the sadness of the world or drink Jameson's Irish whisky. This post brought to you by Jameson's Irish whisky.

I'd run into this a little when I would play late at night and all my opponent's were overseas (as you can see I'm in the United States). There was always considerable (IMO) lag.
Although I wonder how you suggest chess.com "make a player play"

No, they are refusing to move.
If you have a hard time with a couple of paragraphs, I imagine you never read a book?
I prefer playing chess, not gambling.

Maybe they don't even know opening theory AT ALL :LI play against one of my friends and he takes FOREVER to make his OPENING MOVE! ._.
Well at leat they are making a move and aren't just sitting there until the game is timed out by the system.

Sir, I commend your recommendation, but as an Irishman I must point out that it is "whiskey"; "whisky" is generally used for Scotch.
Change the time limit next time!
It has nothing to do with time limits. The searched time limit is the same. The higher rated opponents will many times refuse to move.
Well...maybe for you, I'm not so lucky :(
