Here's an idea to speed up tournaments: A lot of times a group in tournament is only waiting for a few games to finish where the outcome will not effect who will be advancing. In those cases the players in the lead (who have all their games completed of course) should already be declared group winners and move on to the next round while the other games in the previous round can take their time to wrap it up without holding a complete tourney hostage! How about it?

In case you think you are the only sane one. The idea has been tossed around since the beginning of time.
