take a leak before taking live chess might be the way to go. Common sense surely that could work.

It's a good thing this is just a game, and not something really important...... You're "Fair Play Policy" sounds like something more at home in the era of 30's fascism. I aborted three or four games because I kept getting paired with opponents who had previously made nasty comments during games, and I got a warning. I realize the policy is well intentioned, but there is no practical or fair way to implement it. People abandon games for many reasons, like phone calls, babies crying, dinner's burning. Not everyone who walks away from their game after 15 seconds is a "bad sportsman". People have lives. With this policy, you've taken an enjoyable pastime and turned it into a military drill. Lighten up, guys.......

If youre getting paired against people that are rude block them

    As for:

phone calls - Dont answer it, or play while chatting

babies crying -  babies gotta come first, so you pay the price on the one

dinner's burning - Why play a game so close to dinner time?

I understand your concern, but these are things that can be dealt with for the most part.  As for the fair play policy, i think it is long overdue.

OK. Let me add that to the list: don't abort, don't take more than 15 seconds on first move, block the rude opponents, do not abandon game, take a leak...... What else? Did I leave anything out? Oh, yeah..... How 'bout: put rest of life on hold while I put 110% of my life force into this stupid game.......... or I'll get that scary warning: You may have violated Fair Play Policy....... Come on! Get real with this nonsense!

If you don't have the time to play a full game, don't start a game. That is common sense and common courtesy. If you start games and have to "walk away after 15 seconds" you clearly should  not be starting games.

On many nights I have at least 5 aborts before I can get a game going. Sometimes it seems they don't like the color they were given. Sometimes it seems they don't want to play against the opening I played. Sometimes it seems it could be I'm too low/too high rank. And sometimes there doesn't seem to be any reason to it at all.

It is very frustrating to sit through waiting to get matched up and then getting an abort and repeating that process 5 times everytime I just want to play a game. Of course I make it easier on myself by immediately blocking anyone that aborts or lets the server abort for them.

If you're getting matched up with a "rude person" either a) turn off your chat and they can't be rude b) block them after they're rude the first time and you won't be repeatedly matched up with them.

Of course part of me wonders if they're rude because you just aborted the first game you got matched up with them.

The fair play policy makes perfect sense and I'm glad it helps weed out the annoying aborters. Then again I can understand how easy it is to make sure I have the time available before starting a game. If I had a baby nearby and I was the only one to take care of it, I would probably either not start a game or do correspondance games. If a phone call came in I'd ask to call them back right after I finished.

Really there is no reason you should be having issues with the fair play policy.

" put rest of life on hold while I put 110% of my life force into this stupid game.......... "  then why playing this stupid game ? if is it stupid to you, then you needn't to worry about the fair play policy.

Like what's gonna happen? Maybe nobody will pay attention to it? Maybe nobody'll post a comment? From such a blow I may never recover...... The people who post comments in this website are the biggest bunch a' suckers I've seen since that rabbit and bear in the Dr. Seuss story "The Big Brag"........ Anybody can see right through you clowns, just like Seuss's worm.......

I feel like opening a can of worms, so here goes. For everyone that thinks a block list is fascist, I think they should have a button programmed into your profile that appears during your games entitled "sneeze". In effect, it would allow your opponents to "accidently" sneeze and bump the table hard enough to make the pieces fall all over but, only on your turn of course and especially when your winning, leaving you with no choice but to grin and bear it.

Now you're getting the idea! Anyway, this entire discussion is moot. It is quite easy to override any restrictions on an account: Just type in "Emergency Cancellation Archimedes" and........voila! You're in!

The fair play policy is a bit of a joke. Not as funny as the guys who joke around on the forums (whose posts are very refreshing compared to those that endorse "flaming").

Well, it's nice to see some readers out there have a sense of humor....... But, what in tarnation is "flaming"?!
