It would be really helpful if I could see my sent messages... I have so many and I don;t remember whether I replied to one or not. What do you think about having a tab or something to see sent messages?

I too had a problem locating sent messages and thought they didn't get saved.

Thank you funandniceisme, for asking, and Joseph-S, for the solution... big help :)

If you go that route, click on 'site map', scroll down until you get to 'My Account', scroll down farther until you get to, 'Messages'.  Click on 'Messages', and on the right side of the page, under a green bar that says, 'Compose New Messages', you'll see 'Sent Items' that show the messages you have sent.  After three months they are deleted.
