Agreed it can be frustrating. Is a ban required for rudeness? What about something like a temporary ban of some sort. A permanent ban seems rather drastic.
Suggestion for players abandoning games
Sort:
at least a warning and a punishment of some sort.
You know what would be perfect? -100 points which would be automatically subtracted only if:
-Player left the game, leaving 20 or more minutes to elapse.
Ofc., if something like this was to be implemented, we would need to make sure that players are informed about the change, give maybe few automatic warnings on ones account before subtraction.
I also think that abandomed games should be punished with 100 p. subtraction. Let us start with that and notice where it leads.
I don't know if a point penalty makes sense, but some kind of punishment is in order. For some strange reason, the moderators say they are more worried with aborters than with abandoners. I don't understand why.
These sort of threads remind why I don't play live games.
The difficulty here is that players can appear to have abandoned games, when in fact they have lost their connection and cannot retrieve it in time. They are innocent in these circumstances and it has happened to me a few times.
I have no doubts that admins would know the difference beetwen deliberately abbandoned games and connection issues. Nobody is banned here until previously being warned and neither should this system be implemented differently. Players also have an option of contacting admins in case of their connection bugging and everyone should have a right to state their case before any action from the staff members. Anyway this is a dead topic, too few comments and interest in it. Let us just enjoy our chess games :)
To be honest, it doesnt matter if someone abbondons on purpose or not, the detrimental effect on user experience is the same.
Give me the option to filter people with "poor connection", and then not worry if the poor connection was purposeful. If it was a one-off, then the stats wont change, if their connection really is poor, i dont want to play them.
Will enocurage people not to play on some whatever device it is that keeps dropping the connection when they lose.
Just lost a match due lag. Tried to move my piece and it got missplaced due it :( (2 Queens and kings) I have excellent or very good connection most of the time. I guess that only rematch can help me in that kind of situation :P
Also, I like playing 30 min games. The server is infested with people who just abandon games when they realize that they are going to lose and it can make a beatiful chess game really frustrating by making you wait 20 mins for a game to end...
Therefore I suggest a permanent ban for these kind of players.
