The quote option used to serve as a retainer of lost posts in a discussion where one of the members is suspended from chess.com. I recently discovered my quotes were blanked out when a member was given the boot that I was responding to. As such, the discussion loses cohesiveness when the posts are removed and the quotes blanked out. This needs to stop, or people are going to be forced to manually copy and paste comments in order to retain them.

Yeah, there's been quite a bit of good content lost, but I thought that the content of formerly closed accounts was restored quite some time back.

I suspect the problem may lie with the reason accounts get closed -- some are closed precicely because the content is undesirable, and in those cases a sweeping removal of said content is exactly what's warranted.  If your quotes of the member were purged alongside the members content, then i suspect this is an example of this particular circumstance and that it's probably an appropriate response.

As long as the person/poster wasnt' removed for posting abuse we're ok with allowing content to show.

Except the person was removed, AND my quote was blanked out. The post I was responding to had nothing offensive in it.

I can't see people copying & pasting  you just take it for granted and you don't know when someone is gonna get kicked......so there's no posterity...A mass grave without a marker,buried in unconsecrated ground.

It makes sense to completely remove them and all traces if  there abusive..you'de be advocating them to keep there words

It doesn't matter if that particular post did, they obviously clear all posts and quotes from someone banned for abuse. They aren't going to check each individual post.

Which means I have no choice but to manually quote from now on, starting with this reply.
