trophies that are at best back-handed compliments or just whining

Sorry if this is covered elsewhere, I didn't see it.

What is the deal with a "mouse slip" trophy or the "drunken blunder" or the other ones that are essentially saying "here's a trophy for a win you didn't really earn and "I slipped" (which is another one)?

Are they really trophies or should they be put into a new catagory that could be called the "self-deluded excuse making and snarky obnoxiousness meant to last long after the game's chat is a distant memory catagory"?

i agree, those seem a bit less than complimentary.  i think the trophies are silly though, so i don't send them out.

I'd like to see a dummy trophy. (I think Americans call it a pacifier)

I could see myself using these trophies for games where I know the opponent in real life and we have a good relationship. Then it can be fun to give each other a hard time just for the fun of it. In those cases, a "You're a Lucky Bastard" trpohy would be a nice addition. LOL

    good point excelguru.

Hey Oinquarki, I thought the 2nd place one was for tournaments, but that would be something to give it for a game.  Giving mocking trophies to people that lose the game, man that's just evil.

Hey Rooperi, yeah they're called pacifiers.  Another word for it is a "binky".

Would the pacifier be given as:

    You suck

    or

    You are childish

Gee Xtranice, I don't recall NJ being know for whining; but Texans do seem to have to dis every other state, so I guess you felt obliged to come up with something.  I don't know what "y'all" are compensating for and I'm not asking either.  But thanks for trying to derail the thread into the area of Texan's regional insecurities.  If someone gives you an "I slipped" trophy and you don't think they're whining that's your choice.

    *singing*...

There was a girl in portland
    Before the winter chill
    We used to go a-courtin
    Along october hill
And she could laugh away the dark clouds
    Cry away the snow
    It seems like only yesterday
As down the road I go
