I've just entered a 960 tourney and all the dozens of games are starting with the SAME position. This doesn't seem in the spirit of 960, I'd have preferred to start with a random selection of various DIFFERENT 960 arrays.
What do YOOO think?
what do you mean? are'nt all the dozen games have randomly been produced?
This is traditionally done in FRC (960) tournaments to eliminate any possible advantage given to a player by a certain starting position. It's how the tournaments are done at Mainz, which is basically the World Championship of FRC.
It's not clear that it's necessary for tournament where you play both colors against each player, but Erik and company decided to go with tradition. Of course, if they hadn't, there'd be a bunch of people asking why the positions aren't all the same like at Mainz.
