Hmmm. I'm not sure. While I do have some experience with the opening, it perhaps isn't worth the time to get all those 76 extra players? Perhaps there should be a start date, regardless of players! Otherwise, presumably, people will start to leave.
They won't leave, they'll just forgot about it (but chess.com will automatically remind them).
I don't have any experience with the Bird opening either, I have never once played it so I thought I'd try something new (and a few of my friends wanted to play in one).
By the time it starts perhaps my one buddy will have gone premeium & thus be able to join.
