Playing chess is fun, but to play competitively you must study. Chess books, such as "Bobby Fischer: The End Game" is a great book that not only disscuses chess strategy, but life as a GM, too. If you play chess in tournaments, I would suggest reading this book and/or studying chess tactics. You could use books at your local library or use chess.com for tactics. I and many others have tried this method and raised at least 400 in their ranking in 6 months. I personaly raised my ranking 437 points during this time. So, if you play chess I recommend this method as your best choice (at least as a begginer) for raising your scores.
