I would like to know if the vinyl boards that I am creating would be allowed for tournament play.  Here is an example of one.  I was told from some people that it is the only board that they want to play on now, because it is easy on the eyes.  The board is 21"x21" with 2 1/8" squares.  I know the standard is 2 1/4", but because of the size of my borders along with wanting it to fit into a standard tournament bag, I had to make them this size.  I realize that I might have to redesign my boards, so as to increase the square size.  Any other known issues would be appreciated.  Thanks.

I actually like the idea of vinyl, because there would be a lot less glare, which would in fact go along with what you've heard about it being easy on the eyes.

Yes, I believe this chess board would be allowed for use in USCF tournaments. Does not look much different than those used at USCF tournaments by most players.
