Draw by repition yet game continued?

First time playing tournement. I was on android device and it said draw by repition a few times with option of review game/new game yet the game continued. Is this a tournament rule of no draws? Now I'm not a chess pro but long ago i remeber on fics you had to select draw manually. I didnt select anything so was that a notication I could have accepted it somewhere?

Yes, the game continued because, as you remember from your FICS days, you do have to claim the draw - it's not automatic.  This is the case in over-the-board chess, and FICS and ICC any other decent chess server.

You should have been able to claime the draw simply by hitting the DRAW button.  That certainly should be possible on your app/device.  If not, it's a poor design.  You need to be able to claim a draw or ask for a draw at all times.

(And no, I've never heard of a tournament with "no draws." )

I'm surprised the the app / android device even mentioned this at all.  Usually when playing a game, most GUIs won't do that... it's up for the player to notice there is a possible draw by repetition.

Lucky for you you didn't claim a draw... since you ended up winning anyway.
