When I was younger, and better, I played tournaments in Europe. It was different, but I'm not sure how much I can say as I haven't yet played any in the US.
North Korea respects chess the most. My great leader has over 100 sets in his private library and 2 life-sized ones in his back garden.
He is also a Grand Master.
