ok so ive been playin 4 about 5 months now, going into my first tourny 2morro... can anyone give me any tips 4 preparation? this is a live tournament and im wondering if there are things like proper chess edict and penalties that i might b unaware of.. plz fill me in..... thanks

Congratulations, I hope you do well.  Be courteous to your opponent - no rude gestures or speeches.  Really, it's better not to talk.  Don't make any noises during the game, either.  To start the game, usually (for my tournaments, at least), someone will announce to everyone that you can begin the game.  Shake your opponent's hand, wish them luck, and then play.  Other than that, just make sure you know about en passeant and castling so that your opponent doesn't catch you off guard.  Good luck.
