    Can someone explain me the tournaments works on chess.com.

    Is it possible to create a closed tournament (i.e. my friends, my shcool, my city, etc) or all tournaments must be opened to all members?

    Yes, you can set up an "invite-only" tournament. Check out this page for just about every question you might have for tournaments: http://www.chess.com/tournaments/help.html .
