Ok, i have had enough of trying to get in tournies! First I had one instance where the time clock I had (I do work for a living) was weird. I was notified at 10 am that I had 10 hours before the game was up. I arrived home at 4 pm (unless you failed basic math that is 6 hours) only to find I had timed out. I never realized that 10 hours translated into 6 hours kind of like the file compression used by AOL.

I finally got past the 10% requirment and excitedly decided to try my first tournie. Lo and behold, I have to have a sub 6 hour time/move. So what that means is those who list 3 and 5 days per move have to be given the fickle finger of disapproval. I am sorry, that is horse poop! No more tournie attempts for me. I am becoming REAL disenchanted! Chess.com has been pressuring me to become a member and I serously considered it. But now, I have to confess, at this point there is no value in it for me as I can't partake of 50% of it's ability! I hate to say this, but it does need some review.

The minimum time control on a tournament appears to be 1 day.  Perhaps there is some other factor at work causing you to lose time?  Do you happen to smoke crack cocaine?

The detault time per move is set to actually blank. The notes suggest that 10 hours is the average. However it is up the TD of every tournie to set the max time per moverequirement.

Most people i enjoy playing with are 5 hours and under, down to 1 hours or less even.

Gernally, those who move faster, make tournies a smoother experience. Thats what there are limits. 30 people move fast while one averages 1 move a day.. the 30 peope finish their games and have to wait days and weeks for the last person to finish. Its silly. So that is why each tournie has its own rules.

Look for one with a requirement that suits ye. Failing that create one that suits ye.

The next "fast play" tournie i setup will have 3 hour min move max for example.

you can only join 1 tournament as a non-premium member. The reason you got in 3x was because you were probably invited.

same thing happened to me.

don't loose hope keep tryin...

There are several open tournaments, and only a couple with sub 6 hour time/move requirements. You like to play slow, fine. Others like to play fast, fine. There are enough tournaments that everyone can play the way they like. And if you become a member you can always create your own if none are to your liking.

rules were there to implement and if not to your liking, you can always make your own tournament or find such tourneys that suits you playing style.

good luck to all your possible games

hey waterlover, i tried to join a tourney (*cough *cough *TD pistoleer *cough) and couldn't for my time too... here's the bright side:

you have 11 played games with 2 current.. you can bring the time/move down fast.

i have 60 games with 17 current. When i started at this site, i played one game at a time with 14 day time control.  i would use the most of it and relish the slowness of the game... now i'm more into fast play, but pulling that time/move down is tough tough tough once it gets way up there.

(btw: i'm glad i didn't get in... i kinda signed up for too many tourneys that came at the same time with a 2nd round)

:P hondoham, next time send me a message if ye really would like to join and ill see if i can tweak the settings ;) I did that for the last tourney i set up after someone messaged me who had an average move time a little over the limit.

For me its about fun, and if someone is moving faster than their time average shows, like ye are sayin now hondoham, then im glad to include them :) Cheers and hope to play with ye in one soon ;)
