Is there a FAQ somewhere that explains this?  From what I can see the idea is to encourage participation rather than results given most of what I see on the first page.

Not sure if there is a faq, but you have to win a lot of games to get on the  first page. Example Awardchess plays like a 1000 or so games at a time. Wins enough in a shorter period of time than most of the players on this site. I have no chance of making the first page because I only play at most a hundred games at a time,  whether my win percentage is higher or not. I simply dont play enough games to win in a short period of time. I gather that is true for the majority of players on this site.
