There was one organized by one group, but I don't remember the name. It was something related to Manchester United. But you were supposed to be a member of the group (they accepted everybody, however) and I don't know if it already began or not.

    Cheers,

    Alex

Joining groups on here is a GREAT way to make new friends, and meet new players.  Last time I checked there was 755 different groups based on everything under the sun.  Whatever country you live in, whatever your style of chess play is, and whatever you do outside of chess, there's probably a group for you.

Here are a few that I recommend:

    The Dark Knights

    Animal Lovers

The 2K Club (for those with a rating over 2000)

Chess Spartans (for those who never resign)

Chess Athenians (for those who do resign)

Chess Team International (for those who play as a team in Vote Chess)

The Chess Turtles (for those who play slowly)

    The Philosophers

    College Football

    Poets and Writers of Chess.com

    Travelling, Nature, Photography

I also highly recommend The Dark Knights and The Endgame Lovers. Team Matches are also lots of fun after you've joined a group

Has anyone created a group called "Jedi" and "Sith" or "Slytherin",  "Ravenclaw", "Griffendor" or "Hufflepuff"?  Where do I go to check?

Great Idea!!  There is a Star Wars and Comic Book Lovers group, but they only have 8 members so far, and haven't had any activity in months.  I haven't seen a Harry Potter group yet, but I'm sure there are plenty of people on here interested in playing "Wizard's Chess."  Wink

As of right now there is no Jedi vs Sith and/or Griffendor vs Slytherin, etc., but there is the Light Force vs Team Blackness.  This battle is obviously set in the times before the Empire took control as the Light Force has many active members, and Team Blackness - not so much.

Other groups have been created for the sole purpose of playing games against each other (CoT - Shirts vs Skins, the new Chess.com World League - Team Canada vs Team Scotland, etc.), so it wouldn't surprise me at all if someone reads this thread and starts up your Jedi vs Sith or Ravenclaw vs Hufflepuff vs Griffendor vs Slytherin concept.

Just take a deep breath Shawn, then dig into your pocket for the princely sum of $30.

/ One drink in a bar, with your friends will cost more than $30. Chess.com subscription is annual.Smile

I am under control of an evil corporation and do not have access to my finances Mr. Brooks.  I'll have to wait for a tournament.
