im new to chess.com and have  grown quickly tobe quite fond of this site

today im embarking on a new wrinkle in my career.MY FIRST TOURNAMENT

Any advice from you guys would be appreciated..

Your first in-person tournament or your first chess.com tournament?

i think some guys get kinda salty if you try to chat much with them. they get in the zone and what not.

maybe that's just my experience though.

Just have fun and enjoy yourself. 

I guess your first chess.com tournament. Don't rush! Spend at least 30 seconds every move checking for hanging pieces and whatever tactical motifs you know. :)

its my first .com tourny and my first tournament since high school(class of 1976)

Just relax and do the majority of thinking on your opponents time. Look for tactical motifs, and watch the pawn structure throughout the game.

do your thing and follow your instincts and beware of hanging pieces- traps...

Just do your best to play a solid game. Tactics Tactics Tactics.
