How do people who were involved in tournaments before www.chess.com  set up a tournament with pairings, standings, automatically having your game be set up like it compared to before all the features for tournaments was available.  I was in several tournaments before and not one ever made it to the second round because of not being able to track or having accountability.  I did not enjoy the old tournaments, but I think I will like the new.  So far I am enjoying this as I figured I would.  Erik and his team have a way of listening and making adaptions that solve problems.  This is great.  Thanks Team.

There have been internet tournaments on FICS and ICC for years now. They are real-time tournaments, not the "correspondence" chess popular on this site. Note that FICS is free and is staffed by volunteers and ICC charges a membership fee. This site is different in that it offers a free and a paid option, but has continued development by professionals.

The old tournaments  was talking about was on this same website without the features of pairings, standings and advancement to the next round.  I am thinking that it was usually run by someone who had no idea what should happen in a tournament.
